Doris Eleanor MacArthur

Surrounded by her loving family, Doris Eleanor (Waite) MacArthur gained her angel wings at the age of 93 years young on December 24, 2024, at the Prince County Hospital in Summerside.  The daughter of the late Frederick J. and Ruth (Waugh) Waite.  Wife of the late Newton MacArthur and mother of Carol Anne Adams, Marlene (Edward) Adams, Janet MacArthur, Lee (Annette) MacArthur and Joyce Cameron.Grandmother of Tricia Adams, Keir (Alissa) Adams, Bryan Adams (Samara Van Baalen), Samantha Adams (Matthew Nadeau), Andrew MacArthur (Emily Paynter), Mary Anne MacArthur, Tyler (Marissa) Cameron, and Ashley Cameron.  Great-grandmother of Jaxon and Molly Adams, Curtis and Lydia Adams, Callum and Quaid Cameron.

Special Aunt of Garth (Natalie) Waugh, Gaelyne (Chris) Ramsay and Norma Jean Waugh.

Predeceased by father-in-law and mother-in-law Myron and Jean (Jardine) MacArthur, sister-in-law Henrietta (Charles) Waugh, brother-in-law Myron (Sheila) MacArthur, son-in-law Barry Adams and nephew Wade Waugh.

Doris grew up in Travellers Rest before moving to Summerside and becoming a hairdresser.  After getting married, she moved to Kensington where she and Newton raised their 5 children. She later moved to an apartment in Kensington, before moving to Kensington Community Care Home where she greatly appreciated the fantastic meals and wonderful staff.

She enjoyed visiting with family and friends (in person or by phone), going for drives, or playing a game or two of cardsSometimes referred to as the "Family Google"she knew birthdays, anniversaries, or family milestones from memory.Those that knew her, knew how much she loved and cherished her family.  She was young at heart, had a quick wit, a sharp mind, and loved hugs.  

Resting at the Davison Funeral Home Kensington for visitation on Thursday January 2, 2025 from 12:30 – 2 p.m,. followed by the funeral in the Davison Funeral Home Chapel which will be available to view online.   Interment in People’s Cemetery Kensington. In lieu of flowers, if so desired contributions may be made to People’s Cemetery Kensington, Diabetes Canada or the Kensington Presbyterian Church.
