W. Edward "Ed" Pearson
1932-2024
It is with great sadness, we regret to announce the passing of Edward Pearson, formerly of Chelton, on Saturday September 28th, 2024 at the age of 92 years. The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital Summerside. Son of the late Earle and Amy (Cairns) Pearson. Beloved husband of the late Kathleen (Kay Zwicker) Pearson. Loving father of Lori (Gerard MacLellan) and Arnold (Tammy McInnis). Grandfather of Ashtyn and her siblings Alecia and Allison. Also survived by his sisters-in-law Louise Fitzgerald, Holly (Robert) Doyle, Marilyn MacLean and brother-in-law Albert (Pauline) Zwicker.
Pre-deceased by sister-in-law Winnifred Murphy and brothers-in-law Sam Fitzgerald, James MacLean and Herb Murphy.
Edward attended Chelton School and Prince of Wales College before returning to the family farm in Chelton due to the illness of his father.
During his farming years the family were involved in farming and community activities. Edward maintained a high level of interest in Church, community and family events. The family retired to Summerside in 1990 where Edward took part in several programs. He took pride in working with many senior activities especially Meals on Wheels program, first as a driver and later as a co-ordinator from Summerset Manor for 16 years.
In 1989 he was awared the YMCA Peace Award and followed with the Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal. His kindnesses were spoken of many times over.
Edward leaves to mourn numerous cousins and descendents of the Cairns family of Freetown, PE and British Columbia.
Edwards body has been donated to The Dalhousie Human Body Donation Program. Visitation will be held at the Davison Funeral Home Kensington on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. Funeral Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity United Church Summerside and will be available to view online after the service. Interment later in the Searletown Cemetery. If so desired, memorial donations to the Summerside Meals on Wheels.
