Dr. Marvin R. Clark

1936-2024

Dr. Marvin R. Clark

Dr. Marvin Clark passed away peacefully on 13 Feb. 2024 at the Palliative Care Centre in Charlottetown, Marvin was in his 88th year. Born in Kensington, PEI, Marvin was the son of William Keir and Ella (Ramsay) Clark. He was the beloved husband of Marla (Mackenzie) Clark with whom he shared 61 wonderful years of marriage, until her death in Aug. 2021. Marvin is survived by his 3 devoted sons- Keir (Kim) Clark of New Maryland, NB; Milton (Brenda) Clark of Sherwood Park, AB, and Calvin (Darla) Clark of Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. Marvin’s seven loving grandchildren include Kristen Clark, Cameron (Chantele) Clark and Marla (A.J.) Durling, all of Fredericton, New Brunswick; Hannah Lin (Shea) Gideon, and Caleb (Chelly Enders) Clark of Sherwood Park, Alberta; Josh Gallant of Moncton, New Brunswick, and Moira (Greg Gilroy) Clark of Antigonish, Nova Scotia. He is also survived by ten great grandchildren - Wesley McCoy, Finnley Clark, Oaklen Clark, Kaden Durling, Callen Durling, Tripp Gideon, Violet Gideon, Miller Gideon, Noah Clark, and Weston Gilroy. Marvin’s siblings, Elwood, Leslie, Mildred, Don, and Eleanor all pre-deceased him. He is survived by three sister-in-laws and one brother-in-law: Eileen (wife of the late Don) Clark of Summerside, Christine (the late Roderick) MacCuish of Sydney Mines, NS, and Carrie Lin (Raymond) Ng of Etobicoke, and a great many Clark and MacKenzie nieces and nephews, who dearly loved their Uncle Marvin.

Marvin was a gifted and accomplished person, excelling in the practice of medicine, academia, public administration, international development, and community service. He was blessed to have his incredible wife, Marla, working at his side through much of his 50 plus year career. He was a devout Christian man who, with the Lord’s guidance, lived out the values of love to all under his care or tutelage. Marvin and Marla exemplified christlike hospitality and Biblical mentorship to those they crossed paths with during their time here on earth. While Marvin throughly appreciated the joys and fulfillment associated with his life on earth, he looked forward, by faith, to graduating to the chapters of life to follow in the presence of the Lord. He will be missed and remembered by many, but his deepest wish is that we would follow in the Lord’s path and focus what remains of our own time on earth walking with our creator - being about the Lord’s work rather than wasting time and energy on earthly pursuits.
